The federal system of government in Nigeria has failed to improve the welfare of ordinary people who are meant to be beneficiaries of representative democracy. This failure is man made, it's 'deliberate', and can be avoided. Historically, political power has been held by 'the few' over the many,  however, today the people want to have a greater say in their own government, greater control of their own communities, their own lands and their own lives. They want to be in control of their own destiny, they want a government that works for them, not for 'the few', this is being resisted. Those who benefit from the way things are want the status-quo to continue, and more to that.

The election of President Muhammadu Buhari has made the complex situation worst, it has exposed the inefficiency and gross abuse of the system. Autocrats do not change overnight. 'They have led the state into chaos, which will ultimately be resolved by the arrival of the next ceaser'- Andrew Marr. Even the almighty Bola Tinubu may not save the situation because, Chief Tinubu is a progressive who deeply believes in the restructuring of the country for efficiency. I have carefully researched the position of his close associates in this regard, they all favour the restructuring of the current political system.  The restructuring of the current political system is one sure way to put it right to facilitate competition, creativity, innovation, possible growth in various states, and the overall goal of inclusiveness. We must free up resources being wasted by the centre on white elephant projects to drive development at the local levels. Ignore the rhetorics about corruption, the current political system promotes corruption, so not the solution to corruption, as some people are above the law.

This is the time to show leadership not seeking to attack anyone who speak the truth to power. We must reject ignorant sycophants who are only interested in what they will gain, ignoring the big picture, these are the true enemies of the people. All the societies that have taken this path are peaceful and prosperous. Nigeria is not a homogeneous society, so do not be deceieved.

We are on a mission to find out why democracy is failing in Nigeria and what can be done about it. The result of failure of democracy is violence, possible civil-war, refugee crisis, migration, hunger, HIV/Aids,diseases, illiteracy, inequality, mass-unemployment, mass poverty, poor public services, infrastructural deficit, killings, insecurity, stagnation, etc.

Everyone suffers democratic failure, that's why you must be one of those who think different. I read a comment where Governor El-Rufai said the leadership is willing to make noble sacrifice by putting the country first, this could be a better legacy given the current events.

We must reject any political party that does not guarantee us restructuring because they don't mean well for the country, you cannot expect 'sound government', good government for all from such a political party.

Ensure you register to vote, vote wisely and protect your votes, as we continue to explore the relationship between the 'big thugs, their guns, the rich people that help them to win elections' and ordinary people in the society.

At different points in history, the people always challenge a political structure that is unworkable, that period is now. The people are now 'alarmed' to the inherent danger of the status-quo. Now we have the chance of a 'new start'.
