The Next Big Thing in Nigeria: Educated Electorate is Very Important in a Democracy

"The current political structure and leadership is a danger to 'sound government and stability' in Nigeria."-Uche Okeke. Photo: Uche Okeke

The future of democracy in Nigeria is on the line given the mistake of destiny-Invitation of the strong man. In the words of Sir Trevor brooking; "this could be hugely damaging to our long-term future".

There is urgent need for a constitutional settlement as the current political structure legitimises Authoritarian rule: Division(Factionalism), Exclusion, Exploitation, Discrimination, Violent Represion of Civil Liberties, Corruption, Poor Resource Management, Killings, Stagnation, Instability, Inequality, Incompetence, Sycophancy, etc.

Constitutional Settlement is one major solution to the dilemma of democracy in Nigeria. Constitutional Settlement is about Freedom, Equality, Safety And Security, Growth And Stability. It is about the 'will of the whole society'. Democracy is about the people to be involved in decisions that affect their own lives-their own future.

There is urgent need for a new leadership as the current leadership resists/rejects Constitutional Change. Government must be in the hands of those competent for the job, educated and well-equipped to rule not dictators, ethnic bigots seeking a return of the society to the primitive state- life in a state of nature: 'nasty, brutish, short'.

We must collectively say NO to endless manipulations-lies, propaganda, fake news, bribe, etc, to consolidate the status-quo. Instead of ignorance, misinformation due to greed has taken over. Those who sold their soul to profit are leading the campaign to commit ordinary people to greater ignorance. They are everywhere -media(TV, Radio, Print), Social Media, spreading lies to endorse their paymasters and attack anyone who disagree with them.

I think i have come to the end of this project, waiting for the next big thing. According to Atif Sheikh; "there will always be new things to learn; if you stay curious''. It's very imperative we listen to the 'wise words' of the great philosophers and great thinkers whose works inspired this project.

They said there are moments in life of great responsibility when you are given the opportunity to 'stand up and stand out'. This is one of such moments in history. Democracy needs well-informed citizenry willing to ask important questions about the future and put pressure on the power holders to change the way things are.

Naturally this will be resisted, it needs Education and a people's will power to say no to the way things are, change is not freely given. Education is the only solution to the dilemma of democracy all the philosophers say so. Today's new awareness and liberation technology makes the difference.

"Thank you Lord, God for all you have given us in this world, for its beauty and for all the good things we enjoy. I thank you most of all for loving me and for your promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Please help me to share these blessings with others-Amen".

It's very difficult to let go my football story, especially now that i have overcome my injury.
"There is no doubt that meaningful discussions are needed to ensure that large-scale progress takes place...., ultimately what we want to see, above all is a team performing well and winning matches, to help us remain in the top flight"-Sir Trevor Brooking[Fans Must Put Grievances Aside West Ham's Future Is On The Line; Evening Standard Thursday 29 March 2018].

We must demand freedom from a tiny minority who are united by the ruthless pursuit of self-interests and destructive passion- subordination. Join me on the next big thing. There is always the next big thing. Read More: http://www.theleadprojectfoundation.com/2018/03/nigerias-democracy-and-its-crisis_27.html

Inside Nigeria's Ruling APC Party: The decisive challenge-Time is running out

"All genuine lovers of the world's best political system-democracy are never going to agree to the Next Level or allow their political party to be used to achieve the Next Level- a disguise for dangerous extreme agenda."-Uche Okeke. Read More:

Be Properly Informed: There is NO Democracy in Nigeria- Uche Okeke

There is no democracy in Nigeria, do not be fooled. Until we resolve the human condition: Ignorance, Poverty, Greed. I wonder when that will be. The democratic principles are not adhered to.

All we have is just manipulations by the few for self-interest- their families, friends and associates. Manipulating ordinary using Fraudlent means- Money, People, Media,  Social Media ,Elections, Party, etc. to influence-persuade ignorant people. They even buy voter cards off the people during elections so that their votes won't count- they wont have a choice, use others as thugs to rig election. There is collusion of government agencies that are meant to be independent.

No Accountability, No Transparency. Strong Barriers to Participation. Money Talks. Fraudlent Political Structure, Fraudlent Election. No adherence to the principles of democracy. Ruthless Pursuit of Self-Interests. Winner takes all.

Today its worst with the mistake of destiny. Ex-President GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan has set a good example of acknowledging defeat, nobody knows what happens in future given the mistake of cdestiny.

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable('Bribe & Bullet')'. What Can Be Done About It-Uche Okeke

The era of complete control over people and things is over. Political leaders must in the words of Alec Ross; " open up and resist control-freak tendencies''. In the golden age future growth and stability depends on empowering the citizens''- Uche Okeke.  Photo: Uche Okeke

Freedom is only when we have options to pursue our rights. Today the conclusion to be drawn is that the status-quo has failed to deliver as expected. What we are witnessing is 'social breakdown, anarchy, chaos rather than human liberation'. The Next Level will be disastrous-Absolutism; a return of the society to the primitive state. Radical Restructuring of the current political structure is the answer to equity and justice vital for a fair and just society. We must reject any government that plays political football with the much needed restructuring for stability. Thinking needs to change. Restructuring Nigeria is citizens right, just like the right to vote in elections, so the citizens must put more pressure on the politicians to do the needful, because they conspire to maintain a system that serves their interest-profit. This book is about the subversion of democracy in Nigeria by 'the few'- 'vested interests'; a ruthless cabal manipulating simple human emotions- Ignorance, Fear, Poverty, Greed; using cruelty and violence: Bribe and Bullet, blood money, fraudlent media, social media, corporate power, traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion/community leaders, lies, propaganda, fake news, patronage politics-political appointments into unproductive agencies, cult-like political party system for anointed kings, and pseudo political structure that legitimises authoritarian rule.
Today we live in the Golden Age- Age of Enlightenment and Reason, Equality and Freedom. One sure way to achieve inclusiveness is Constitutional Change- Reform/ Restructuring of the current political structure that concentrates Political and Economic Power at the centre for the benefit of 'the few'; their families, friends and associates for their ''luxury and adorenment''.
Greater Devolution of Responsibility and Resources is the key to drive a 21st-century Nigeria to achieve growth and stability, strengthen the union and its diversity. All the societies that have done this are peaceful and prosperous. This requires a shift in thinking, active civil society, and educated electorate willing to demand change from 'the few', instead of fighting among themselves. Today change is possible. Together we can change the way things are. Failing democracy in Nigeria is  due to a number of causes all deliberate, avoidable. We have identified the two main causes for Democracy Crisis in Nigeria as follows and outlined possible remedy.
1. The Peril of Destructive Passion:
"Hijacking by despotism, the licence to
do as one pleases"-Professor A.C. Grayling
-Broken Morals
-Absolutism-Authoritarianism.
-Coup.
-Divine Right Theory(Born to rule narrative),

2. The Mistake of Destiny: Invitation of the Strong Man;
'How Did We Get Into This Mess?-George Monbiot.
"Experience shows that every man invested with power
 is apt to abuse it"-Montesquieu.

-Custodian of divine right doctrine
-Prisoner of tradition(Might Is Right)
-Authoritarianism-
-Dissent Clampdown
-Muzzling opposition
-Selective Justice
-Mass Propaganda, lies, untruth,etc
-New Peril-The Herdsmen- Anarchy
('Land Grabbing- Raiding, Depopulating,
Appropriating Neighbouring Lands')
-Deplorable resistance to modernity(Rejects Restructuring).
-Loss of Liberty.
-Demagoguery and Populism(Anti-Establishment, Angry, Frustrated,etc,
they alone represent the people, every-other person is corrupt...)
-Election Rigging, etc
-The Next Level: Democracy to Dictatorship

Others:
a) The Five Giants:
''Which destroys wealth and corrupts men"-Nicholas Timmins.
- Giant Want
 Giant Ignorance
(''Ignorance is still a giant to be slain'')
- Giant Idleness
- Giant Poverty
- Giant Fear
-Fake News, Untruths, Mass Propaganda,
Fraudlent Media, Social Media, etc.

What Can Be Done About It ?
"Insanity is doing the same thing over
and over again and expecting different results"-A. Einstein

 The Golden Age:
'Education-Enlightenment-Freedom-Empowerment- Equality- Autonomy.'
-Constitutional Change-'The Will of the People'
-Proportional/Equal Representation(Federal Allocations, Education, Legislature, etc)
-Independent Institutions(Legislature, Judiciary, INEC, etc.)
-Devolution of Responsibility and Resources(Sufficient economic
& financial resources to Autonomous/Independent states/regions)
-Civic Education
-Citizen Engagement Education
-NGOs,Collaboration(Aligning Government, Civil Society, Business)
- New Leadership(Committed Democrats With Experience
 and Expertise to Deliver)
-Women In Development
-Diaspora For Development.
-Greater Economic Diversification
(Entrepreneurship, New Skills Training, Trade,
Tech, Taxation, Agric, Agribusiness, Mfg, etc)
-Globalisation/Tech
-Global Partnership(International Institutions)

Poverty is man made and can be eradicated, no wonder Rt. Hon. Tony Blair said :"Africa is a stain on the conscience of humanity". Instead of embracing the challenges of the Golden Age -constitutional settlement; empowerment, freedom, autonomy, globalisation, the power holders prefer to unleash terror;  a return of the society to life in a state of nature-'nasty, brutish, short'. What a tragedy! Democracy is more than just elections. The era of 'clinging zealously' to the obsolete politics of domination is over. The time has come to ditch ''primitive 19th century notions of conquest'', and embrace a new world of ''individual rights, an ever expanding circle of liberty''-Charles Krauthammer. Democracy in Nigeria faces a major threat from 'totalitarianism', it needs committed democracts to be in-charge to build a new democratic society that promotes the goal of democracy: ''Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness''-Jefferson . This project is an attempt to help shift thinking by providing new information and ideas to inspire action and possibly drive change. Invest in all and prosper not using conquering techniques to diminish citizens potentials. According to the World Bank; "people drive a nation's stability and economic growth, that's why investing in a healthy, educated and resilient population is key to competing effectively in the global economy" This project also addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goals-SDGs 1-No Poverty, 8-Decent Work and Economic Growth, 10-Reduced Inequalities and 16-Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: 'The will of the people'

The Devastating Scenes of Pitch Invasions in Nigeria; Why the difference?

Pitch invasion is always a disaster for the world's beautiful game of football, especially the clubs and fans. The game loses its value wherever the thugs invade the pitch, a very ugly scene. We must get rid of the thugs to enjoy the game, its as simple as that.

Enyimba Forest United -100; Sharks of Portharcourt-0. Definitely it must be an empty goal post, i pity the goal-keeper and genuine fans and players.

They are the Referee, Linesmen, Striker, Defender, Police, Security, Licencing Authority, Media, Club owners, Stadium owners, Plus crooked Fans, etc.. The Safety regulations must be compromised. This should be a huge concern to all genuine lovers of this beautiful sport.- football.

Active Civil Society Is Very Essential in Nigeria's Democracy

"Civil Society exists to protect individuals' lives, liberty and property"-Professor A.C. Grayling. Photo: Uche Okeke.

Education is the only solution to the dilemma of democracy all the philosophers say so. It needs active civil society organisations to inform and inspire the electorates to take action and demand change from the power holders.

Educated electorate is the key to a successful democracy to achieve a fair and just society: Democracy Education, Citizen Engagement Education, Civic Education, etc.
Democracy needs to be 'properly and transparently' applied to achieve its purpose: 'Life. Liberty, The Pursuit of Happiness'. It needs credible and educated leadership well-equipped to rule, not tyrants with hidden agenda.

It's all Education, Education, Education...., to demand change, constitutional change, participation, etc.

Democracy-the only hope for man: Equality of opportunity, Social Justice, Human Flourishing, Security and Safety, Happiness, Freedom.

Rule by the few, not yet freedom in Nigeria, 'until philosophers become kings'. One sure way this can happen is reform/restructuring of the current political structure-New Constitution, New Leadership, Civic Education.

Its difficult to forget my football story; the world's most beautiful game. "Its a win-win for everyone, especially the fans because they get rewarded for their engagement in the most modern way, tokens which can be traded for tickets and merchandise. They are at the centre of this eco-system, and the idea is to get the clubs, players and media attached to it. I believe the idea is perfect"-Bryan Roy; Former Holland and Nottingham Forest Striker[Match Zone, Metro Friday, March 23 2018].

We live in the Golden Age. Restructuring-New Constitution, New Leadership is very imperative for our democracy to thrive. Everyone wins. In the words of Jack Butland; Stoke Goalkeeper: ''I'm delighted to be back..., I was shattered by my injury. But I'm back where I want to be now...,I've always been a very positive person. We Can Defeat Tribalism in Nigeria- Uche Okeke

"Tribalism is the most powerful force in the world"-Patrick Dixon Photo: Google.

Identity politics is a common feature of Nigeria's politics, however, in recent times, it has become very extreme. This is not good for democracy.

In the words of Amy Chua: "some tribes are sources of joy and salvation; some are hideous product of hate mongering by opportunistic power seekers. Once people belong to  group, their identities can become oddly bound with it...,they will penalise outsiders, they will sacrifice, and even kill and die for their groups".

Democracy And Its Crisis In Nigeria Deliberate, Avoidable- A View of the Delimma

"When a highly divisive government secures power to give freedom to vested interests-hidden cabal to operate at the expense of the rest of the society, it becomes a dilemma, a tragedy"-Uche Okeke. Photo: Google.

Simply put, there is no democracy in Nigeria. Representative democracy in Nigeria is undermined by two main causes: Destructive Passion- Military, etc and The Mistake of Destiny-Election of President Muhammadu Buhari. The whole game plan was a political structure that could help them ''remain in power permanently quelling opposition and denying civil liberties''- Professor A.C. Grayling; (Democracy And Its Crisis, London 2018)
Nigeria's democracy fell short of the performance test for a transparent democracy, looking at the necessities and the desiderata. It has just been electoral democracy-election every four years, with more powers for the president and weak institutions and limited participation/engagement.

The only attempts were during the government of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, but were undermined by one-man, a long-term democracy sceptic, and ethnic bigot-  President Muhammadu Buhari who was elected in 2015 by manipulating simple human emotions of fear, ignorance, poverty, etc using lies and propaganda, bribe, fraudlent media, social media manipulation, etc. The result is political and economic failure, massive corruption, killings, resisting reforms/restructuring, discrimination, exploitation, violent repression, instability, etc.

The election of President Buhari has reveresed the little democratic gains the country has made since the return to democracy in 1999, with huge assault to constitutional checks and balances, a big threat to the mechanisms of sound government, because it's obvious there won't be genuine choice for voters during the next election. The President has just declined to sign a new bill on election reform-election time table, etc.
The only remedy is the Restructuring of the current political structure to guarantee inclusiveness, Independent Institutions, New Leadership certainly not another Dictator, because Dictator Rule always result to Tyranny, Compulsory Civic Education at all levels- Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, etc. Democracy needs informed citizenry to succeed. This requires multi-stakeholder collaboration.

The essence of democracy is that the people are in control not the few. We must get it right in-order to have a sound and stable government that can deliver growth and stability not stagnation and endless instability.
This book is the work of a Social Entrepreneur, helping ordinary people to understand what has gone wrong and what can be done about it. We are committed to searching and sharing best practices to inform and inspire ordinary people to take action. Change happens if we are ready to take action to demand for change from the elites-power holders.

They said the best book is the one that tells the story we alreday know and the world only became real when you write about it. This book is attempt to help change thinking, so as to improve human rights and democracy in Nigeria. Today's new awareness and liberation technology has made change possible.
In the words of  the famous author-Edna O'Brien: "The most important thing of all that a book, or a poem, or a drama, imparts to us is its permanence. Permanence is vital. It is a transfusion of thought from one generation to the next. It is immortal"-Sven Hughes-[War of the words: Turning boring Brexit into a bestseller, City AM Thursday 15 March 2018].

The  government's highest priority is to consolidate power at any cost using cruelty and violence.
This is a wake-up call to fight for the future of democracy in Nigeria, the only hope for man. Rule by the few- not yet Uhuru-(Freedom) in Nigeria, until philosophers become kings. Thinking needs to change. Nigeria's democracy has always for the few not the majority. Together we can change the way things are.
Democracy works where there is triumph of reason, people are well-off to think properly, and philosophers are in charge. There is urgent need for the people to sit down -debate/dialogue the type of government they want. If this is not happening, then its a huge crisis, a dilemma, a tragedy...

Restructuring Nigeria: Equal Rights, Social Justice, Freedom; The Golden Age

Today we live in the Golden Age. New awareness, new needs and new demands. Restructuring of the current political structure is a primary condition for growth and stability in Nigeria. This is one sure way to guarantee inclusiveness- Equal Rights, equal Opportunities, Social Justice and Freedom especially in an ethnic diverse society.

There is urgent need to sit down to dialogue a new future with the people's consent-a new constitution. The current structure is a kind of 'master-servant' concept seeking subordination- 'the wish of the masters'. The time is now.

Read our blog regularly, share widely as we continue to carry our message of 'truth and freedom' to everyone that cares to listen including those whose choice/decisions affect our collective future. The current political structures promotes tyranny, which is an evil that must be rejected.

We will continue to share best practices and useful materials that we hope will help improve democracy in Nigeria. We recognise that Education and Collaboration is the key. A whole lot has gone wrong. We have seen new revelations about the legislators wages,- the Senate.
The Members of the House of Representatives are declining to make their own wages known.
According to Ex-Governor Peter Obi of Anambara State: "Senators' allowance is tip of ice-berg compared to Governors".

We must demand for change if we want change to happen. The good news is that  in the modern era we have the opportunity to demand for change and help make change happen.

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: Let's Fix It- Promise For Change.

Questions arise about the system, you don't need a permission to take action. Start right now wherever you are- on your facebook page, lend your voice to this important conversation about the future, share these stories, those photos, videos, etc, it doesn't cost you anything to share to reach a wider audience.

Our homes are being destroyed, lives and properties are destroyed on a daily basis, more lives at risk. The good news is that there is always a solution-the world and creationism are waiting to strike. They never allow it to get to the next level.

We just need to take action. Reject Authoritarian Rule, Reject Political Bribery, Reject Cattle Colony, Demand Restructuring. Get your voter card. Vote and Protect your vote. Vote for only the Political Party and Leadership that will guarantee us Restructuring of the current Political Structure- Freedom, Equality of Opportunity... Do not allow yourselves to be used for violence .

Now is the time to take action. We have the opportunity to end this tragedy not by keeping silent. This tragedy can only stop if we collectively condem it and let the world know that we are determined to put an end to it. If we concentrate on what we will gain, the political position that will be given to you, then things will get worst. It can happen in every back-yard, the threat is real.

The world needs peace, today even countries where we never expected to embrace peace are leading the way to find peace. This is a great challenge to local political leaders. Whats the point of democracy if its not for peace and development?

Be Properly Informed: Think Safety First. Think Security First. Think Freedom First. We must embrace a political structure that boots growth, restores trust and promotes diversity. The bell tolls for all of us who believe in world order. Now is the time to think different.

Uche Okeke is the Founder of The LEAD Project Foundation- The Voice of the Poor.

Give States Greater Control To Fix Their Future in Nigeria- Uche Okeke

I have just responded to a Facebook Comment: "All Federal roads in your South-East are being fixed in real terms". I replied the commentator that those roads will be better sorted out by the states. A restructured Nigeria doesn't need to wait for the Federal Government to sort out their roads most times a condition for re-election.

Greater ''devolution of responsibility and resources''-Professor Tony Travers; is what states need to take their destiny in their own hands. The truth is that people are not asking the right questions. Nigeria's predicament is the current political structure- a monstrous conception designed for subordination. The problem of Nigeria is just one story-The Peril of Destructive Passion: A political structure that legitimises Authoritarian rule.

This is the truth some people are not comfortable with. Why hold the states and the citizens to ransome with a dysfunctional political structure- bogus government, bogus legislature at all levels, wastes on patronage politics, unproductive parastatals/agencies and political positions, etc.  Restructuring is the first condition to sorting out the mess we are in today.

A lot of people are uncomfortable with this truth, still manipulating people to continue with the same wastes that do not hold any better prospects for the future. The states need to be incharge of their own economic future- attract talents and investment to lift their citizens out of poverty, not the federal government.

In an ethnic diverse society like Nigeria, the Federal system of government is unworkable. Its made worst by Authoritarian rule that have constantly reminded the rest of the society of this identity issue- unending dangers. We should stop deceieving people with this Greek gift- silly narratives that have defiled modern ideas for development.

There is urgent need for restructuring to reduce the many functions of the federal government to states to enable states invest in growth policies-education, infrastructure, skills and training, schools, universities, healthcare, manufacturing, air-ports, air hubs, sea ports, internet/broadband  etc, not using the bulk of national resources on 'white elephant projects'.

Any state that want to use their own money to settle traditional rulers, pilgrimmage, vigilantee, other unproductive agencies, is their own headache. That's the whole point.

Restructuring will also reduce silly election cost and desperation allowing citizens of the states to elect their own leaders not leaders imposed on them from above. This will ensure accountability and greater inclusiveness. Again ''devolution of responsibility and resources'' is the primary condition for growth in a 21st century Nigeria .

Recent events of the herdsmen attack is an urgent reminder that states should be in charge of safety and security of their citizens. Professor Wole Soyinka said "Declare the Herdesmen terrorists", but the government is only interested in more cattle routes to other states that don't need cattle business, what a government!. In the Golden Age what people need is technology-internet-broadband not cattle routes. What's the point of politics if its not to improve and secure lives.

Restructuring Nigeria is an obligation whose time has come.

You Allow Old Men Become President, What Do You Expect ? – Mo Ibrahim La...

Mohammed “Mo” Ibrahim , renowned philanthropist, has lambasted African youths for supporting “old men” to become presidents.
At a recent event, which had former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, in attendance, the billionaire businessman said even countries doing way better than African nations back younger candidates for the presidency.
He said: “Please allow me to be frank, don’t take offence. I wish to start from where President Obasanjo stopped about age. You have been president for so long that’s why you are careful with words.
“You see people at 90 years and about to start new terms, what do you expect? We are the only continent in the world where we have president at 90 yrs old (he said referring to youths in attendance).

Countdown To 2019 Election in Nigeria- 'Moral Authority'

We need to be more aware. Democracy is about the protection of individual rights- safety, security...,"Life, Liberty, Happiness'', not warfare. Authoritarian rule(coup, etc) is development in reverse, violent repression against the citizens- a danger to the whole of humanity.

Expanding individual freedoms is a condition for growth whereas Authoritarian rule is a condition for stagnation and instability, so we have to be very careful. Vote for Freedom. Reject Political Bribery. Do not sell your votes. Never allow yourselves to be used for election violence. This is the time to think different. Ensure you register to VOTE!

We now live in a modern age where Authoritarians seeking domination over citizens life is no longer acceptable. We have the right to reject any government- sanction it if it fails the performance test and bring in a new government that will protect our rights and guarantees us freedom, not a government that will label us enemies of the state, seeking coerecive powers to hang people for free speech in 21st-century.

"The specific role of the democratic state is not to subordinate the individual to itself but infact to provide for individuals' self-realization. The self-realization of the individual can only take place through membership of a society in which the state guarantees and advances the rights embodied in moral individualism"-Durkheim.

Authoritarian Rule is Exclusion, Division, Exploitation, Discrimination, Violent Repression, Massive Corruption, Poor Resource Management and Political Instability, etc. Authoritarian Rule is not only evil that must be 'foreseen and prevented but also as a present evil from which we must cure ourselves'.

President Buhari's Visit To Benue State Nigeria- Analysis

The President said the federal government is doing its best to prevent a repeat of the sad killings of innocent civilians in Benue State Nigeria, as the state is the food basket of the nation, but the Public Affairs Analysts in the state tend to disagree with the president.

According to them the President isn't prepared to declare the herdsmen as terrorists, rather compelling them to live in peace with their killers. They were very upset that it took the President more than three-months to visit the state to condole the citizens.

Furthermore he didn't visit the IDP camps, but simply met with the stake-holders he selected for himself and prevented credible media organisations to cover his visit.
The public affairs analysts emphasised their doubt about the sincereity of the federal government to resolve this issue as the government is more concerened about accomodating their killers.

Meanwhile the leading opposition PDP party has described the President's visit to Benue State as a mere political visit for re-election. Read More:

Nigeria-Journalists' Hangout : APC Faces Mass Defection if Tinubu's Peace Effort Fails

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: What Is The Alternative?

Today we live in a rapidly changing world-expanding individual freedoms, but democracy is not delivering good dividends in Nigeria. Elections are the only time that the politicians have direct contact with the voters. Votes are not expected to count. We are now faced with a new peril-the Herdsmen. Is that the future we want? What is the Alternative?.

Its time to take action. This involves each of us. In the age of new awareness and liberation technology change is possible. If we don't take action today we're going to move backwards and our children will face this all over again.

Restructuring Nigeria is the key. There is urgent need for the restructuring of the current political structure which legitimises autocratic tyranny akin to the Treitschke doctrine- a system of power which recognises no intrinsic limits to its rule.: "The state is the highest value, can accept no limits to its power, and must ultimately pursue its aims by warfare. Acknowledges no constraints upon the expansion of its ambitions"-Durkheim

We must collectively say NO to the way things are. Now is the time to think different, take action. Read this blog regularly as we are working very hard to keep you properly informed. There is a lot of work to do.  Read More:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwDDeNyJMVU

The Hard Choice We Face In Nigeria- 'Hope Or Horror'

Whenever i see politicians using ignorant people as photo opportunities i realised that ignorance is still a giant to be slain. Today we're faced with a hard choice: Hope or Horror, today's expanding individual freedoms which is a condition for growth or Authoritarian rule which is a condition for stagnation and instability.

Authoritarian rule is a danger to the whole of humanity. Reject Political Bribery, Reject Authoritarian Rule, Reject Cattle Colony, Demand Restructuring. The threat is real so we must do something about it. Ensure that you register to vote and make sure you vote for only educated and credible leadership and the political party that guarantees us restructuring of the current political structure.

The Next Level : Divine Power; A Level of Might That Cannot Be Equalled- A Danger To The Whole of Nigeria

"The goal of subordination goes beyond the sphere of material interest"-Durkheim

The will to power-cast aside every obstacle and every constraint. The Next Level is now a ''myth that has continued increasingly to develop, growing ever more complicated and becoming more systematized'"-Durkheim.

According to Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, this is now a myth that must be uncovered to know the root cause. Governor Ayo Fayose said that President Buhari has directed all the Governors to ensure that people do not block cattle routes in their states-[Herdsmen: Buhari Told Us To Stop Encroachment On Cattle Routes;Vanguard March 12 2018 ]. He has called on the International Community to intervene. "This goes beyound what is on the surface"-Obasanjo. Click on this link to hear Ex-Prseident Olusegun Obasanjo: http://www.theleadprojectfoundation.com/2018/03/the-lead-project-foundation-tv-ex.html

Meanwhile the Igbo Apex Group- Ohaneze has told the Inspector-General of the Police to first disarm the Herdsmen who are killing people and committing other atrocities first before talking about nation-wide disarming of licensed gun holders and local vigilantees.

"Our main concern now is the restructuring of Nigeria in sync with other progressive groups and individuals in Nigeria. Once Nigeria is restructured other things will fall in place"-Chuks Ibegbu, National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Ohaneze Ndigbo.[Ohaneze Ndigbo To IGP: Disarm Armed Herdsmen Before Ordering Licenced Gun Owners To Submit Theirs, Vanguard March 8 2018].

We learnt that to conquer a nation you first disarm its citizens. History is always a reminder. Chief Gani Adams has charged the Yoruba OPC to be very Vigilant.

We must be very careful about the right to dominate the world- very primitive and deeper fact.
The Next Level is a political doctrine for destruction, history always predict and warn. However, the world and creationism never allow arrogance to get to the next level.

The Next Level , in the words of Durkheim; ''is a point that can never be attained ,its duty is to draw continually closer to it".

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: Everything Ends in Reconciliation-Uche Okeke

Historically political power has been held by the few over the many, today the people now want to have a greater say in decisions that affect their lives to enable them develop their own competitive advantage and attract talent and investments to lift their citizens out of poverty.

Hate Speech; Replacing Free Speech by Constraint in Nigeria

Its only authoritarian regime that seeks to replace free speech by constraint. We have written about free speech as blasphemous, etc. Authoritarian government is an evil that must be forseeen and prevented, but also as a present evil from which we must cure ourselves.

The only way to stop hate speech is Education-Civic Education which the politicians/military abolished, now crying foul. Again Athoritarian government divides, disintegrates and creates conflict and instability. They're the true promoters of hate speech, but they want to make a violent legislation which is against God and Man to prevent Accountability.

Nigeria's Political Structure- 'Monstrous Conception'-Uche Okeke

Why Restructuring Nigeria?

"A society is an association, a kind of Joint Stock Company in which all concerned should be consulted concerning the management of the undertaking..., a choice must be made if we attach some value to the existence of the society"-Durkheim.

We have argued that the current political structure given to us by the military is the first corruption and the root of today's massive corruption in Nigeria. According to Chief Olu Falaye, the current constitution was written by Abacha for us: Read More: http://zurumnews247.chayns.net/ticker?M=68618631

Today we have a choice to sit down together and come up with a workable structure that will guarantee inclusiveness, growth and stability. This is a choice without which any society is impossible in the words of Durkheim. "A society that was not more solidly cemented together would risk being swept away at the first storm".

There is urgent need to restructure/modify/improve on the current political structure to achieve the goal of democracy: ''Life, Liberty, The Pursuit of Happiness''.

The current structure has failed to improve the welfare of ordinary people instead induces Autocracy-division, discrimintion, violent repression, bribery, etc. "Excessive administrative centralization is a monstrous conception- not as a coming evil that must be forseen and prevented, but as a present evil from which we must cure ourselves"-Schaeffle[Durkheim on Politics & the State; Edited by Anthony Giddens].

He described such idea a 'horroffic idea' and advised that we must reject a system 'slowing down' the functioning of the machine, making it not to be efficient. Read More - New Book.

The Next Big Thing: The Brown Envelope And The Bullet Who Cares?-The Decline Of The Game In Nigeria.

"The club needs to do the right thing and announce a change in manager at the end of the season so that fans can give the manager the send-off he deserves"-James Morris

How the thug business destroyed the world's most beautiful game-Football in Nigeria. All genuine lovers of this game should be worried about the decline of the world's most beautiful game in Nigeria. They know they are not capable of scoring the goal, their passes are never correct.

You cannot be the referee, the linesman, the coach, the commentator, the striker, the defender, the police, the football authority; the result is always Enyimba Forest United-100, Sharks of Portharcourt-0.

The decline of this beautiful game is impacting many lives, putting safety and security at risk. There is now apathy to Matchday, In the words of James Morris;"Apathy is creeping in big time and this game needs the fans behind their club. The negativity at the moment is dragging on at the moment, ...we don't have the same buzz.".

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: Values And Belief System Must Change-Uche Okeke

"Humans change through stories and it depends what stories you tell about whom and for whom"-Jude Kelly. Photo: Uche Okeke.

The failure of the world's best political system-Democracy in Nigeria is due to a number of causes all Deliberate, Avoidable. For Democracy to achieve it's objective in Nigeria, it has to be 'properly and transparently' be applied.

One sure way this can happen is the restructuring of the current political structure which concentrates Political and Economic Power to the center and the rejection of Authoritarian/Totalitarian Rule. Democracy exists where equality of opportunities prevail.

No society can be built upon the pursuit of self-interest. It is morally wrong for the state to 'erect obstacles' for the growth of the society. The Liberty and Equality of citizens is one sure way to promote the health of democracy.

This needs informed citizenry-active civil society willing to take action. Today's technology has the potential to help make change happen, so lets use it for good. Now is the time to take action by Rejecting Political Bribery, Resist the Bullet, Reject Cattle Colony- Safety and Security first, Demand Restructuring, Vote for Credible and Educated Leadership that will guarantee us Restructuring and Sound Government built on a 'Shared Value and Shared Identity' to lift ordinary people out of poverty.

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: What Can Be Do...

Change happens whenever we are ready. We must demand for change for it to happen. We must all participate actively erasing fear. We must free ourselves from the obstacles that hold us back. This can only happen whenever we recognise that there is problem with the status-quo.

The system is dysfunctional- domination of others. The absolute freedom we aspire can only be guaranteed by the restructuring of the current political structure. "If we wish to be above such fluctuations we must view things from a different vantage point"- Durkheim.

Read this blog regularly to help change your world view. Again the status-quo does not hold any further promise of change. Restructuring the current political system is one way change can happen. This blog is an attempt to help you become one of those who think different so that we can change the way things are.

Lastly in the words of Governor EL-Rufai Of Kaduna State: "The danger of this current state of affairs is that we are inadvertently creating successive generations of poorer, barely educated, unskilled, hopeless and angry children of the poor, side by side with increasingly richer, privately educated, skilled and optimistic children of the privileged. It is a demographic and social time bomb waiting to explode as the poor and hopeless youths are easy recruits of insurgents, violent politicians and criminals. Only you,
Mr. President will appreciate this danger and do something about it with the urgency it deserves".

This is why thinking needs to change.

Restructuring Nigeria: The Big Political Question Of Our Time.- Uche Okeke

Decentralisation/ Devolution is about Freedom , Productivity , Opportunities, Competition, and Accountability.
It's established that decentralisation is the only way to reduce/narrow inequality gap, free up national resources to empower ordinary people.

There is no reason for our politics to be centralised in Abuja, allowing few people to decide the fate of about 200 million people. There is no need for concentration of 'political and economic power' in Abuja, and peoples lives now at the mercy of heartless politicians who are only interested in their families and friends and associates.

"The solution is to allow regions and their splendid cities to become self-governing including having the power to set local tax rates for individuals and firms."- Mark Feldner and Mattew Bonnon.

Decentralisation is proved successful in various places including Switzerland.

According to Richard Koch, the author of the book :  ' The 80/20 Principle;  Regional tax competititon works in switzerland: "Despite having only 8 million people, Switzerland is divided into 26 highly independent cantons, all raising their own taxes. It is a wealthy country and has repeatedly come top as the most economically free country in Europe".

He concluded that the Swiss experience shows that decentralisation/ Regional Autonomy promotes efficiency, democratic accountability and the creation of wealth, as well as decent local services and a high degree of community spirit.

"By decentralising , we can empower people in currently underperforming cities and , counties can develop their own competitive advantage, attracting talent and investment"
. [Embrace Radical Decentralisation to Help The Poor and Increase Freedom- Richard Koch; CityAM, Friday 7 April 2017

Before we talk about the next election, the politicians should address this very important issues of decentralisation to free ordinary people from the chains of poverty, the very creation of the politicians to consolidate power.

Democracy needs well- informed citizenry to counter the silly narratives of the crooks, the powerful to misinform ordinary people and continue business as usual.

We must commit ourselves to some kind of a purpose beyound our own individual survival.
The political elites are ruthless gangs out of sympathy with ordinary people. We must not celebrate them nor celebrate a system that condemns people to greater 'ignorance, less freedom and less control over our future.

Nigeria's Democracy And It's Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: 'Governor Ayo Fayose calls for foreign intervention in unending killings'

"The killings in Benue State is particularly worrisome. Mr President is merely using a cosmetic approach . It is not believable that Nigerian soldiers cannot tackle the developments that have claimed lives and unsettled communities"-Governor Ayo Fayose, Ekiti State Governor. Photo: Getty.

According to Channels TV; Governor Ayo Fayose has called on the International Community to step in and unravel the mystery of unending mindless killings in the country.
He has called on the President to play his role as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and justify the mandate given to him by the people.

Meanwhile, a group called Cultural and Societal Value For Development Initiative (CSVDI) has called on the Federal Government to stop encouragement to the Fulani Herdsmen to perpetrate violence in the country by its failure to check the menance.[Group Tells FG To Stop Encouraging Herdsmen Attack By Inaction- Independent March 8 2018].

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable-The Giant of Poverty-Uche Okeke

Poverty is a key social problem in Nigeria, but it can be eradicated by freeing up the resources held by the centre for 'bribe and bullet'. It's immorally wrong for the state to 'erect obstacles' for the growth of the society- Uche Okeke. Photo: Google.

"We live in an underdeveloped society with a lot poverty, misery and wants. What people want is for you to address those basic fundamental issues that affect their lives"- Senator Shehu Sani. Meanwhile Senator Shehu Sani has exposed the legislators abnormal wages in a society infested with poverty and infrastructural decay, poor public services, mass unemployment, etc.

The current political structure has failed to improve the welfare of ordinary people and will never address poverty issues in Nigeria. This is the first corruption and the root of massive corruption.
The only solution is the restructuring of the political structure, that's the first basic step. The power holders want it to stay that way to enable them continue their exploitation- business as usual.

Due to poverty voters sell their voters card to politicians on election day, because that's the only way to benefit from the system. They're aware that it's only during elections that politicians have direct contact with them. Others are  recruited as political thugs to cause election violence.

This situation needs urgent local and International attention. Economic opportunity is the first basic step for democracy to succeed. There is urgent need for a national dialogue to free-up the resources to enable states invest massively in key growth policies-public services and infrastructure for development- attract 'talent and investments' needed for growth. Read More: http://www.zurumnewsdigest.com/2017/04/decentralisation-not-next-election.html

A situation where the centre controls the entire resources, denying the states the capacity to invest in key growth policies- have sea ports, air ports, air hubs, global connectivity, control natural resources at their back yards to enable them exploit 'scale and specialisation' , diversify and engage in international trade, it becomes a huge problem.

Instead we are using the resources to pay security votes, build larger army and civil defence forces, buy arms to contain violence- the same violence created by the politicians, pay ransome to terrorists, pay for religious ceremonies, traditional rulers, unproductive civil service, even build the infrastructure in other countries, and invite foreigners to settle with us with our resources used to boost their cattle business, then bribe voters to vote for you instead of jobs, etc, thinking really needs to change.

The liberty and equality of citizens is one sure way to help eradicate poverty. What causes poverty is destructive passions, deprivation, exclusion, exploitation, violent repression, etc, which is evident in today's Nigeria. It is morally wrong for the state to ''erect obstacles'' to the prosperity of the society.

I have just read a report on Independent newspaper : 'Katsina APC Spending Billions To Woo Decampees-NCP Chair', Independent March 8 2018. According to the report; "One begin to wonder why a government that is yet to execute any meaningful project is spending billions to woo PDP decampees". That's just the whole point.

The status-quo has nothing more to offer. Restructuring is the only solution to salvage the situation not by playing games. A political system that concentrates power -political and economic in the hands of few elites is pointless. "The rise out of poverty is the rise up in productivity, ordinary people become more productive"- Professor Sir Paul Collier, but the politicians prefer the brown envelope and the bullet.

Read Gov-El-Rufai's letter to President Buhari on his Governance Failure : "The danger of this current state of affairs is that we are inadvertently creating successive generations of poorer , barely educated, unskilled, hopeless and angry children of the poor side by side with increasingly richer, privately educated, skilled and optimistic children of the priviledged. It is a demographic and social time bomb waiting to explode as the poor and hopeless youths are easy recruits of insurgents, violent politicians and criminals".

Nigeria's Democracy And Its Crisis Deliberate Avoidable: The Giant of Ignorance.

"Ignorance is still a giant to be slain, and the consequences of low education standards are even greater"-Fabian Society. Photo: Uche Okeke

Ordinary people need to be properly informed. Do not restrict yourselves to what a group of people want you to see and hear. "They like things the way they are so it pays to keep their citizens uneducated and ill-informed, it's the business of ordinary people to be properly informed"-Professor Paul Collier; Oxford University.

Today's liberation technology can be of help. There is urgent need to support Civil Society Organisations working to help ordinary people with Democratic Education and Citizen Engagement, very important.

Democracy in Nigeria works for the big thugs and the rich people that help them win elections. We have just seen a new report which confirms that the Nigeria Senators are paid about N13.5 Million monthly, for running cost in addition to their salaries but we all know what is the minimum wage and some states are struggling to pay the minimum wage . There is massive unemployment and no safety nets. Some of the legislators are still receiving pensions and other allowances as ex-Governors, etc.

Nobody knows the actual salaries of the Executive, their security votes, etc. The System is absolutely disfunctional. Instead of good governance, the actors choose Wastes in Patronage Politics and White Elephant Projects- Funding of religious activities, traditional institutions, 'brown envelope and bullets'

Some Local Government Areas were created for political gains, funds allocated to them are embezzled, whereas people need jobs. Others are hijacked by the politicians appointing their families, friends and associates as Care-takers killing development at the local level. A democratic society exist where equality of opportunity prevail, not a society built on self-interests.

We have argued that the current political structure needs restructuring as its now unable to satisfy today's new demands. It has to be adapted to the 'changing equilibrium of needs and ideas'. We can no longer continue to subscribe to this dysfunctional system instead let us use our freedom to discover what must be done to have total freedom which is the ultimate goal of development.

Nigeria's Democracy And It's Crisis Deliberate, Avoidable: Golden Age

"Most young people are interested in politics but are alienated by politicians"- The Guardian. Photo: Google.

We live in modern times, so young people must have the chance to actively participate in our democracy, vote and be voted for. There is urgent need to remove the barriers to entry to encourage today's young people in government.

I read a comment on Facebook:
"Five Greatest Lies in Nigeria: Youth are the leaders of tomorrow. Education is the key to success , Bail is free, Police is your friend and One Nigeria", very interesting. Young people need to be in the lead in taking decisions that affect their lives, not to be decided by old men who are in the process of gradually dying a natural death.

In the words of the UK Conservative party MEP Syed Kamali: "These days the tech-savvy entrepreneurs, app developers, internet traders, hipsters and disrupters care more about single issues than party politics in general and more about fairness than public finance". [Tories Need Youth Reboot To Keep Power; Evening Standard Wednesday 7 March 2018].

It's about making choices that will help promote diversity and help secure the future of the country in the 21st-century, so young people deserve a chance to be in the lead.

Nigeria: The Country We're In - 'Capture, Corruption, Coercion' by Uche Okeke (Part1)

"Nigeria is one of the most unequal countries in the world. Strong economic growth has not translated into improved living standards for the vast majority of the population, 60% of whom live in absolute poverty, an increase from 52% in 2004. In the North of the country, poverty levels are 40% higher than in the Southern states"-HART -Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust, UK.

Similarly, a new report by Baroness Cox, the Founder of HART-Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust , UK, and The All Party Parliamentary Group For International Freedom of Religion, Westminster, London, United Kingdom has this to say; "Shockingly for a commonwealth country, Nigeria ranks 12th on the Open Doors World Watch List 2020 of countries in which Christians are most persecuted. By comparison, Syria ranks 11th and Saudi Arabia ranks 13th, with Iraq 15th and Egypt 16th". Furthermore; "Nigeria ranks 97 of 113 countries in rule of law making", according to World Justice Project.

Go on with one Nigeria regardless of inequity and injustice and use the resources to benefit the 'few', anyone who disagrees is the enemy of state. A lot is at stake in the Country We're In- the economy, the society, the environment. Everything is at stake. Wikipedia listed Nigeria as number four on the examples of failed states alongside Syria, Somalia, Myanmar and Iraq. Nigeria is the 14th most fragile state in the world and 9th in Africa.

The fragile states index is a yearly report by Washington DC based think tank Fund for Peace and Foreign Policy which ranks 178 countries across 12 Indicators of the risks and vulnerabilities faced by individual nations. These include: Demographic Pressures, The presence of refugees and internally displaced people, group grievances, human flight, uneven development, delegitimization of the state, human rights violations and unaccountable security apparatus, failing public services, economic decline, elite factionalising and external intervention.

We have also mentioned the Social Progress report ranking Nigeria 129/140 on Basic Human Needs. We have talked about the debt service burden which now 'stokes bankruptcy'. Blomberg has reported that rich Nigerians are fleeing the country seeking dual citizenship and investment havens overseas. African leaders have just chosen next door neighbour, Ghana as the headquarters to house the new Africa free trade zone. Rwanda has become a leading global example in harnessing foreign direct investment to lift its citizens out of poverty, achieve economic growth and invest in sustainable development goals.

According to Ewelina U Ochab; "Fulani militia continues to perpetrate mass atrocities in Nigeria's Middle-Belt and their crimes continue to go unreported. How will the Nigerian government explain the mass killings in Nigeria as recorded by several international organisations? What is the Nigerian government doing to ensure that the acts are investigated and perpetrators prosecuted? Whereas the global community describes the Boko-Haram sect who have killed thousands of Nigerians as a deadly religious extremists group seeking to impose their ideology on the rest of the society ."the National Assembly leaders would like the nation to believe that the sect has metamorphosed from a group of religious zealots into an industry. They pointed out that the insurgency has become an industry because what they do is no longer religious. They want us to believe that the insurgents have people from different faiths and countries who are part of them . This is a strange twist to the narrative that began with Islamists at the epicentre since 2009"- Guardian, Nigeria. Religious freedom researchers and activists are seeking effective response from the US Government about genocidal conditions facing christians in Nigeria.

Unfortunately the 21st century challenges of de-carbonising economy and population explosion necessitates that it may not be business as usual. Of-course, this requires new thinking. The country we're in must discover and key into the new global renaissance for sustainable flourishing and thriving agenda for people and plane rather than destruction and anarchy. "Prosperity is Promised but insecurity, desperation, and in-work poverty grows"-IGP. The future requires change .

Obasanjo's recent remarks about restructuring is exactly the way things are and a stark reminder of what lies ahead; "Nigeria will remain insecure, unstable, stagnant if not restructured". Ordinary people must must stop chasing distractions from politicians of the by-gone age who are still stuck in the dark , unwilling to change their mindsets about the status-quo. People need to take action and put pressure on the politicians to do the right thing, nothing works unless people do something, take action to demand change.

The country We're In must focus on the "universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity". The global north has a role to play in the Country We're In. They should pressure on the government to do the needful as they are no longer immune to problems that affect everyone in our interconnected globe. If the Country We're In will start seeing Peace and Prosperity as its priority, the society will become better, equity and justice will become more prominent, there will be inclusiveness, reduced inequality and a society that works for everyone not just the 'few', their families, friends, and associates.

The primary responsibility of government anywhere, particularly the one that was democratically elected by voters, is to protect the life and property of citizens, so what is the point of democracy if it cannot guarantee citizens security and prosperity. Democracy must be prevented from being captured by a hidden tyranny to achieve its own ends.

The Country We're In should be able to answer the following questions as outlined by the The Social Progress Index built on a conceptual model that has three basic categories: a)Does everyone in your society have the basic needs of survival-food, water, shelter, safety? b)Does everyone in your society have the building blocks of a better life-education, information, health and a good quality environment? c)Does everyone in your society have the opportunity to pursue their hopes and dreams without impediment? Do you have rights, freedom of choice, freedom from discrimination and access to the world's most advanced knowledge? This is the great challenge to the Country We're In not the next election nor unity and continuity regardless of inequity and injustice.

The Country We're In will not be able to solve these problems with the mindset that created them. Again, the monstrous political structure that that promotes abuse of power, divine rights, the licence to do as pleases and seeks to remove power and resources from people and undermines effective government must be overhauled to address the interconnectedness of trust, governance and growth in Nigeria. Growth requires new thinking!

Let me conclude this piece of work with a stark reminder by Professor A.C. Grayling ; The Danger-"Power tend to corrupt, Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Democracy collapsing into rule by the least well-equipped to rule, rule by the strong man, or perhaps even a hidden tyranny, capturing the reins of government under the cover of democracy, by exploiting and directing sentiment through demagoguery and manipulation to achieve its own ends"

Read our blog regularly as we seek to examine obstacles to 'flourishing and thriving' agenda in the Country We're In and the vital choices that can be made to achieve Peace and Prosperity. "Ensuring that people can thrive, not just survive is the ultimate challenge of the 21st century". This blog is an attempt to help communicate about the direction the world is going, help inform and inspire action to improve lives and save the planet. Everyone a changemaker.

I read a new Guardian Editorial, 'AGAIN, THE RESTRUCTURING DEBATE : "The dithering of state actors due to the absence of political will is worrisome and has done more damage to the polity. Today, the country's ills have multiplied and nudging the country towards implosion. This is no time to bicker about what is "true federalism". Those who employed this phrase do so to convey a sense of an equitable federation, it is by no means an expression of static notion of the motion of society".

The Country We're In is in great peril and danger and trust is completely broken. I totally agree with Emma O. Akpasubi; "In the face of increasing pressure on the security and other national structures, and the obvious negation of the principles of true federalism that have made the federating units to lose confidence on the federation and the danger this portend for cohabitation, dithering over the question of restructuring becomes a great threat to peace and development. The time for it is now".

Restructuring is long overdue in the Country We're In. We need to put pressure on the power holders to restructure the country to reposition it to address the challenges of the 21st-century-people and planet. Each of us can play a role. We must remove the prejudice that there is nothing we can do about the mess we're in or we cannot change the way things are. We have the power and the tools to change the way things are. Today's technology has made change possible. "Our power to make a difference is greater than today than it ever has been"-IGP. It's possible to change the way things are.
