Igbo President is a right not a choice in their own country, Nigeria.

"It is the inalienable right of Ndigbo to freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic , social and cultural development ; a position that the right of the Igbo to self determination is sacrosanct and cannot be denied or taken away"- Professor Uzodinma Nwala, President Alaigbo Development Foundation. If greedy and violent citizens take up arms to capture natural resources in ethnic diverse societies, the only solution to manage divisions they create is 'constitutional settlement'. It's a misfortune that people are not asking important questions. Instead of unnecessary political manoeuvres  to win the next election; what is needed most is the restructuring of the current political system to guarantee equity and justice by eliminating the state imposed barriers making Igbo President impossible. We are dealing with a very oppressive system devoid of 'rationalisation'. The aim is direct political and economic domination of one group by another; ''a parochial conception for exploitation''. There is urgent need for proportionality in the constitution to balance the political system to guarantee minority rights and respect in the Nigeria project. The constitution should be able to guarantee a fair chance of the six-geopolitical zones to produce a president in a heterogeneous society like Nigeria where the pull of identity is prominent, instead of throwing it open between the North and South. Nigeria is plagued by greedy and violent people who tore the society apart with a 'master plan' to use the country's resources as it pleases them, so these people are not our friends. The time has come to reject unnecessary political manoeuvres to continue business as usual. The Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, recently revealed that the same people fronting Igbo President as a condition for public services also promised the APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu President in 2023, this demonstrates that the master plan of the centre about the Igbos have not changed. We have no greater stake in the dominant political parties so at the mercy of others. The time for restructuring is now, we must get it right. Igbo president is a right not a choice in their own country, or a condition for re-election. A better simple strategy would have been a regional bloc/political party to force the centre to the negotiating table instead of succumbing to personal gains; political bribery- political appointments, etc. The current system is a 'master plan' to favour particular ethnic groups in the distribution of important positions and other patronage-'government revenue allocation, political representation of both'. We must wake up before its too late. The Vice President, Professor, Osibanjo, recently said the country's problems were not about geographical restructuring but about proper management of the country's resources, however, what he has failed to address is 'Homogeneous society is an advantage when it comes to democratization' and Nigeria is not. Where would this leadership come from? Which zone/region?  We need full commitment to make restructuring work. Rational reorganisation is very imperative to end the cynical manipulation of the hijackers and their agents in the fraudulent enterprise. Restructuring- constitutional settlement will guarantee Igbo President, a big challenge to the political elites. Igbo President without restructuring means acceptance of the 'grand narrative/master plan' of those who created the mess we are in. Igbo president without restructuring is not the solution to discrimination, marginalisation of Ndigbo in the Nigeria project. It's a mere administrative position to serve the status-quo- abnormal executive/legislature wages and allowances, fund traditional rulers/religious leaders and functions, unproductive federal agencies, patronage politics, medical/education tourism, security votes, maintain security, fund the next election and other 'white elephant projects', that's the whole point. We can learn from Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's presidency. Meanwhile a group of Igbo organizations in diaspora and at home comprising Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), Global Igbo Alliance (GIA), World Igbo Congress(WIG), and Igbo Caucus of the Lower Niger Congress (LNC), have called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to organise a referendum for the Igbo people by the end of December 2018 to determine their future in Nigeria, so that Ndigbo can take their destiny in their own hands; Igbo Groups Demand Referendum For Ndigbo, Vanguard, September 4 2018. No doubt this declaration corroborates our strong position for urgent restructuring of the current political structure to guarantee equity and social justice in the Nigeria Project. The time for change is now. Enough of the marginalisation of the ethnic minorities and the conquering techniques by the power holders to constantly diminish the chances of Ndigbo from gaining economic and political power in Nigeria.
