The defections were to be expected and should have come as no surprise. President Buhari's take over of the party didn't go down well with many who saw him as un-sellable brand and a threat to their own political future.
The unfortunate situation is that these defectors are heavy weight politicians that command huge grassroot followership. It's more complex when the rebellion is led by the President's own kits and kin. This puts the ruling APC party in a very tight position despite the power of incumbency.
