Government must communicate and collaborate with the citizens in a democracy. "Where the citizens are regularly informed of the activities of the state, and the later in turn is aware of the sentiment and wishes of all the sectors of the population, then a democratic order exists"-Durkheim.
Lack of communication and clarity brings distrust. Today's liberation technology has given ordinary people the opportunity to become aware of so many things and know the truth, so its easy to know when the government lies to the citizens.
In the words of David Howell; "technology has done something which traditional politicians and politial analysts find it very hard to absorb- namely it has empowered the crowd as never before..., the politicians cannot avoid it or wish it away and to keep their countries and societies together as well as stay in power they will have both to adjust their methods radically and make new alliances with all peoples at all levels. [People Power; The New Version]
