Nigerians woke up to a rude shock of the invasion of their National Assembly by gun men simply saying that they are acting on orders from above. This is a huge tragedy. We are currently witnessing how anti-democractic elements are destroying the very democracy that empowered them. The implications is obvious collapse of democracy and return to tyranny and anarchy.

While we commend the acting President, Professor Osibanjo for quick intervention to restore order we must condemn any act of terror by individuals or groups to truncate our democracy, a return of the society to the primitive state. The Legislature is a very essential part of our democracy and must be independent. Those seeking leadership change of the Senate must follow the due process and allow the country to manage its fragile democracy.

The citizens are already stretched with Boko-Haram terrorists in the North-East and the Herdsmen terrorism in the Middle-Belt including high incidence of kidnapping, killings, and insecurity in various part of the country. This is a time for effective leadership to ensure that the country is focused on investments that will bring change to lift its citizens out of poverty as we still face significant challenges..
